How sweet it is...

For those photographers who read our blog, if you've ever been to a photography workshop or convention with me you know about my food preferences.

You most likely know how I love chips and salsa and guacamole and pretty much any Mexican food in general, as long as I can work around the cheese. Jim Cook in Kentucky makes some amazing guacamole. And Mike Colon...his Chimichangas are out of this world!

Moving away from Mexican food, last November it became evident on YouTube and Open Source Photo that I have an affinity for Ketchup in large quantities. A group of photographers were visiting town and they witnessed me at Chick-fil-A bathing my fries and chicken nuggets in Ketchup. It became such a tale that one of our brides and grooms, Brandy and Sticky, who are also photographers in Ohio, presented us with a huge bottle of Heinz Ketchup after we photographed their wedding! It was such a thoughtful gesture and one that we very much appreciated. But please let me clarify and dispel any rumors...I don't put ketchup on everything, just on the things it belongs on. And on those particular things, yes, I like it in mass.



But perhaps my most exciting food discovery took place last Sunday evening. We had just finished photographing Natesha and Chris's wedding in Orlando. We stopped off for a snack and as I was browsing the aisle I found the long awaited and much anticipated DARK Chocolate peanut M&Ms! It's impossible for you to realize how happy this made me. They came out with dark chocolate M&Ms for a limited time back with the Star Wars movie was released a couple years ago. Soon they were discontinued and I was disappointed. Then, a few months back we discovered dark chocolate plain M&Ms. Alas, I had hope that some day soon the dark chocolate peanut versions would be back. And I'm very pleased to announce that they're here!!!!!!

So party! And please eat responsibly.

Happy 7th Anniversary To Us

Happy Anniversary to us today....7 YEARS, its been an amazing time!!!

Ann Marie and William

We had a great e-session last weekend with Ann Marie and William. We shot at the bride's home, in Ponce Inlet. What a beautiful and serene location to live, looking out the front of their home at the Ponce Inlet lighthouse and out of the back of the house at the beach. What I didn't realize, though, is that their portion of beach/ocean has the largest concentration of sharks in the United States!!! Fortunately we didn't get close enough to meet any of them.

Ann Marie and William did great! We shot on the beach, around the house, with the Bentley, and then finished up with a gigantic leap into the pool.





We can't wait for their wedding next month in St. Augustine.

Natesha and Chris tie the knot in Orlando

I'm making a personal resolution to be more prompt in my posts. The inability to have internet installed at the new home has forced us into being much more intentional about our internet usage. That's probably a good thing though, right?

On Sunday we were in Orlando for Natesha and Chris's wedding. It was BEAUTIFUL!!!! It's so amazing that Natesha and Chris have been sweethearts since the 7th grade. And now she's in medical school and he's teaching high school in Loma Linda, California.

The wedding ceremony took place at the Forest Lake SDA Church and the reception was held at the ballroom of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

I love this image of the bride and groom at the church before the ceremony. We actually shot this in the kindergarten room and we had to move a home-made barn and a bunch of toy animals out of the way! LOL!


The wedding ceremony and the reception were simply amazing. And the music was spectacular. I had chills while Natesha and her father were coming down the aisle. Here are some fun portraits at the reception...







Of course without trying to steal the thunder from the bride and groom, on a more personal note, I think we set a world record. For the first time in history there were three Garretts at the same location! Only a handful of times have I actually met another Garrett face to face, but this time to have three in one place, I kept hearing my name and I really felt in demand...it was great! Actually, we all spelled our names differently. I'm G-A-R-R-E-T-T, the tall guy is G-A-R-E-T-T, and the little guy is G-A-R-R-E-T. It was great meeting you both!


Natesha and Chris, it was indeed an honor to share your special day with you. May God's richest blessings follow you wherever you go.

Ashley and Joe tie the knot in Chattanooga

This post is long overdue and I must apologize to Ashley and Joe for taking so long. So I thought I'd make up for it by posting extra images. :)

Ashley and Joe were absolutely great! Of course we had high expectations as soon as Ashley came into our studio last fall. I remember explicitly as she talked about her wedding, her details, her dress, and everything else, she kept saying, "I want to be different, so that's why I'm here."



They tied the knot at Chattanooga's beautiful First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. It's always a pleasure to return to that church because that's where I photographed my first wedding several years ago.

Their reception was held a the beautiful historic Read House in downtown Chattanooga. We've photographed there several times before, but we always try to come up with something unique and different each time.










Congratulations Ashley and Joe! Thanks so much for letting us be a part of your special day. It was an absolute blast. May God bless you as you begin this exciting new chapter of your lives.

Happy Birthday Joy!!!

We're so excited that today is Joy's birthday! Unfortunately though we have to travel. Joy reminded me this morning that we were apart as a family on my birthday, mother's day, father's day and now her birthday. That signifies the need to slow down. We're definitely working on that.

Today I want to get a special shout out and happy birthday to a wonderful business partner, outstanding mother, fantastic friend, and beautiful wife!

Where have we been?

June has been an amazing month. It started with our second elevate workshop in Orlando. Then two beautiful weddings that weekend, one in Orlando and another the next day in Chattanooga.

Then the following week we flew to Los Angeles to our friends' Isaac and Grace's wedding, where I was a groomsman. It was great to be on the other side of a wedding for a change. We saw lots of old friends and had an absolute blast. Pictures to come soon.

The following weekend we were in Charlotte for a beautiful Indian Wedding. WOW!

Last weekend we had a great wedding in Chattanooga, which I'm still working on. And the next day we moved into our new house and last week we had two closings on properties.


So we sit amidst piles of boxes, contemplating throwing most of it away. :-) And since our home is in a new neighborhood, and somewhat out in the country where it's quiet and peaceful, we're still waiting on the city to approve cable and internet to our house! LOL!!!!

Fortunately we have a great connection at the studio, but we're unplugged at home. Please accept our apologies if it takes us slightly longer than usual to get through our email. This weekend we are in Charleston, SC for a visit with family. We hope you had a safe and wonderful July 4th.
