Stella, Senior 2010
We had a blast working with Stella on her senior portraits. Stella is a senior at Collegedale Academy. When I met before the shoot with Stella and her mom, she had a very clear vision for what she wanted: fashion-inspired portraits. Additionally, Stella is a very accomplished violinist, so we incorporated that into her portraits as well.

Thanks, Stella, for working with us. You did great!

Little Mack and his parents
It's always special with a client invites you into their home. So I was super excited to spend the afternoon with Mack and his parents in Orlando.
I love this precious mommy-baby moment.

The family, including Sasha the boxer.

Mack has the biggest bluest eyes and the rosiest cheeks I've seen in a long time.

Quiet moments.

Thanks, guys, for sharing a little slice of life with me. Congratulations on all your happiness.

Erica and James' portrait session
Erica had been talking with us for quite a while about setting up a portrait session for she and James. When the day finally rolled around it was soooo cold. But they were troopers and they did fantastic! They really are one of the sweetest couples that we've met and I had a blast working with them.

Thanks, Erica and James, for sharing a little slice of life with me.

The Sikes children
I've really enjoyed getting to know Dean and Lori Sikes over the past few months. Dean is a motivational speaker for youth and he travels around the world speaking at high-schools and youth groups. It's a fascinating ministry and it's so exciting to hear the stories of young people who turn their lives around through the work of Dean's ministry.
Lori is Dean's stylish and supportive wife. Like me, Dean married up, and that's just one of the many things we seem to have in common. Golf is another, but since Joy and I are about to have our second child any day now, I don't imagine I'll be joining Dean on the golf course anytime soon.
Anyhow, Dean and Lori have three beautiful children. We had been talking about this session for months and I was thrilled to finally photograph them shortly after Christmas.

Thanks again, guys, for sharing a little piece of life with me. I'm already looking forward to the next time....when we get your parents in front of the camera too!

Brandy and Sticky's holiday session
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a photographer is the opportunity to form life-long friendships with many of our clients. Such is the case with Brandy and Sticky, who we first met a couple years ago when they asked us to photograph their wedding in Savannah. We immediately clicked and over the past couple years we've been fortunate enough to photograph them for their holiday greetings.
A few weeks ago they came to Chattanooga for this season's session and we had a blast!

What a fun session!
Thanks guys, for traveling all the way from Ohio. It's always a blast to hang out. We can't wait to see what we come up with for next year!
(will post more from their session of us shortly...)

Every time I see this picture....
Every time I see this picture I laugh. We love Jill and Bex and Ruby and their parents. You've seen them on our blog before. Well, maybe not Ruby. She was just days old when they came in for their Holiday card session.

Anyhow, to me this photograph, an obvious "out-take", tells a story. Several stories, in fact. I'm thrilled that it was their favorite image from the session. It was my favorite too.

Hayden and Dylan
When I first got out of school almost 10 years ago, I worked at Southern with Hayden and Dylan's grandmother. Of course at the time she wasn't a grandmother, but now she is and from what I hear, she LOVES it!
She sent Hayden and Dylan and their parents to the studio for a quick session last week. It was so nice to meet Pam's family.
As an older brother myself, I can think of all kinds of smart comments to say about this photograph, but we'll just say I'm glad I got it now. ;-)
I think Hayden had more fun with the cyc wall/box than any of us expected. At one point he was leaping from the edge and laughing like there was no tomorrow.

What fun!

Cole and Brilyn
Speaking of family, we enjoy being close-by to my cousin Aaron and his family. Last week we had the opportunity to photograph Cole and little Brilyn at the studio. I love shooting against the cyc wall for good clean portraits, especially since we've had so much rain.
Look at these two. A perfectly innocent, never mischievous brother and sister. How could you not love these two faces?!?!?!

Tabor and Heather and Owen
It's nice to have family nearby and as my middle brother and his family have finally settled down in Chicago, we're realizing now more than ever how much fun it is to get together. My youngest brother (below) and his family live about 8 minutes away. That's convenient. Tabor and Heather are enjoying being parents and little Owen recently passed the 6-month mark. Last week we made some portraits at their house.

Oh, the adventures of sticking EVERYTHING...even toes...in your mouth!

Little Kaben
Kaben's mother called us a month or so before Kaben was born to schedule his session. I went to their home and spent a while that evening playing with little Kaben. He was such a great sport. Especially when we laid him on the black and white floor. What a trooper!

Thanks, Tara and Kaben, for sharing a little piece of life with me.

Brandon and Maria's holiday session
Over Thanksgiving, my brother and his family were visiting from Chicago, so we did their holiday session at the studio. It was so much fun.

Little Blythe

Mitchell is always going somewhere

Brandon and Maria, looking better than than they did five years ago when they got married.

More holiday sessions coming soon...

Kaiya, Katherine and Kevin's family session in Oralndo
Several years ago when I worked in the marketing office at Florida Hospital, Katherine was one of my colleagues. She and Kevin married a few years back and just last year they were blessed with little Kaiya.
Last weekend I finally had the opportunity to meet Kaiya. What a little beauty!

Drip....hahahaha!
Playing with mommy and daddy.

Then we headed over to the golf course (now that's my kind of session!)
How cute is this expression!

Gillie and Cy's autumn portrait session
The fall colors come and go so quickly, but we were able to squeeze in Gillie and Cy's portrait session before the colors disappeared. It was an absolutely perfect day and these two twins played to their heart's content. It was a blast!
So adventurous.

Thanks, guys, for a wonderful afternoon and thanks for sharing with us a little slice of life.
