Jacqueline and Rick, married in Savannah

The Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah is certainly one of our favorite places to photograph, and for that we have to thank our dear friends Brandy and Sticky, as they are the ones who first introduced us to the great folks at the Mansion. I must say, any of the Kessler Properties make for a fantastic location to host a wedding, but it sure is hard to beat the Mansion.

So we were thrilled when Jacqueline and Rick called several months ago and asked about our availability. They were planning a destination wedding in Savannah from their home in Virginia Beach.

Surrounded by their closest family and friends, they couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. The setting was beautiful and the weather was outstanding. Fortunately, because of their appreciation for architecture and history, we were able to talk them into seeing each other early and spending time in the city doing a pre-ceremony portrait session. These guys did great!

The ceremony took place at Forsyth Park and the reception was held at the Mansion.

The next two images are a great example of why it's important as a photographer to pay attention and visualize. When I saw the interaction happening, I quickly grabbed the shot and then circled around without them knowing and grabbed the tighter detail shot. I love the emotion in the second image, without even showing a single face.

And of course why not throw in a self portrait from the end of the night.

Once again I was thrilled to have Josh Milne shooting with me, and it was great to meet up with our friend Brian Tighe, who is on scholarship completing his photography degree at SCAD.

Congratulations Jacqueline and Rick on your beautiful wedding. May God richly bless you as you begin your new life together.

I love the image on the stairs and the tight crop of the couple in the carriage! I'd love to see those hands in B&W ;)

You guys are awesome.

i think my favorite is the one in the carriage with the flare and one way sign. you have a brilliant way of creating shots that are sexy, but classic and intimate.

Awesome images!!! It looks like a great venue. It seems like Garrett always ends up in the bedroom with the couple at the end of the night. Must be a tough......

About the one portrait with the lens flare, I love most of the portrait except where the flare is placed. When I look at that all I hear is the voice of the customer saying “ yes it is a nice photo but you can’t see my face.” Did this shot sell or was it used in their album as a background with other photos that relate to it? When you do a shot just like this how do you get by that concern with your client?

Hi David,

Thanks for your comment. That shot was a "hail mary." I placed the camera low to the floor of the carriage and shot into the flare.

I totally understand what you're saying about the flare blowing out her face, but the story in this particular image is about the "one way" sign and the pensive look on the groom's face. The missing face only adds, in this case.

As for their album, the bride and groom were married just three weeks ago. We haven't even started talking about the album yet. :-)
