The Sikes children

I've really enjoyed getting to know Dean and Lori Sikes over the past few months. Dean is a motivational speaker for youth and he travels around the world speaking at high-schools and youth groups. It's a fascinating ministry and it's so exciting to hear the stories of young people who turn their lives around through the work of Dean's ministry.

Lori is Dean's stylish and supportive wife. Like me, Dean married up, and that's just one of the many things we seem to have in common. Golf is another, but since Joy and I are about to have our second child any day now, I don't imagine I'll be joining Dean on the golf course anytime soon.

Anyhow, Dean and Lori have three beautiful children. We had been talking about this session for months and I was thrilled to finally photograph them shortly after Christmas.

Thanks again, guys, for sharing a little piece of life with me. I'm already looking forward to the next time....when we get your parents in front of the camera too!

Magazines Galore #5: Wedding Style

More than once I've heard Wedding Style described as "the bible of the wedding industry." Twice a year, Grace Ormonde and her talented crew produce a spectacular magazine that involves the industry's finest, highlight everything from florals to photography.

Joy and I are thrilled for our clients, Lauren and Mike, who's wedding is featured in the current issue of Wedding Style.

Thanks to Lauren and Mike for being such fantastic clients. And thanks to Grace and her staff for producing such a brilliant magazine that truly sets the bar and continues to inspire issue after issue.

Expecting

We're expecting. In only a few more days, if all goes according to plan, Graycen will be a big sister.

My girls.

So blessed.

Guest contributor

We've mentioned www.eatlikearabbit.net on the blog before and I hope you went over and checked it out.

Now we're excited to share that were are a recent guest contributor to eat like a rabbit. If you like guacamole as much as I do, head on over and check out this recepie, which was initially shared with us by our dear friends Jim and Melissa Cook and Sticky and Brandy J Rammel.

About Eatlikearabbit.net (taken from their website):

Eatlikearabbit.net is a blog about living and eating well vegetarian.

We both grew up vegetarian. Eating food that didn't previously have a face is normal for us. However, as we've interacted with friends and colleagues, we've often noticed they are curious about our vegetarian lifestyle. They often ask questions. One even exclaimed you eat like a rabbit!

To help answer the how do you live vegetarian question, we decided to start sharing our successes and failures in the kitchen. Although we are capable in the kitchen, we are also both professionals who often spend long hours working and little time planning and preparing meals. We're regular, busy people just like you.

(Disclaimer: Although Joy and I do not claim to be vegetarian, when we're cooking at home we usually stick to a vegetarian diet, consisting mostly of rice and Mexican food.) :-)

Great friends

Last night our dear friends in Atlanta hosted a surprise dinner for Joy in honor of the impending baby arrival that we're expecting in the very near future. It was a lovely evening with four of our closest friends, Katie & Chris and Brandy & Sticky.

To avoid ruining the surprise, I didn't bring a camera. But fortunately Katie and Chris took pictures.

As you can see, the menu was Thai and it was DELICIOUS!!! In fact, I'm thinking about trying for another kid as soon as this one comes out just so they'll cook for us again! (edit: it appears from the photo that the menu was cupcakes, but that was just the dessert).

And as a gift they gave Joy the coolest diaper bag we've ever seen to date....(that's a teaser probably only the six of us will understand).

Thanks again, guys. You're the best!

Graycen

While we were in Charleston over Christmas we made some portraits of Gray. I'm not sure what I'd do if she was camera shy. ;-)

Cheers!

Imaging USA ::: Burrell Colour Imaging

One of the highlights of our year is Imaging USA. But this year we won't be attending because Joy is scheduled to deliver our second child in a couple weeks. Obviously, we're disappointed to miss the convention, but we're excited about the reason behind our absence.

In our absence, however, I wanted to give props to one of our favorite vendors who will be at the tradeshow premiering their amazing new booth.

Burrell Colour Imaging is hands down our professional lab of choice. You've seen us mention them on here before. Their products are simply fabulous....especially their canvas print wraps....spectacular. Most of all, I'm excited by the line-up of speakers that they have presenting at their booth. What a wealth of industry knowledge!

If you have a chance, please stop by and check them out. And also plan to visit their amazing new booth in Vegas at WPPI, where I'll be speaking on Monday, Feb 16.

Laura and Max, married in Madison, TN

We were thrilled when our friend from college, Laura, emailed and told us that she and Max were getting married! The day finally arrived and the lovely couple had a wonderful Christmas wedding, complete with extraordinarily frigid temperatures (for Tennessee, at least).

The bride and groom's first meeting.

I said frigid temperatures, right? These guys were soooo brave, especially Laura. I kept my coat on.

Laura's father (also their minister) double checking his message before the ceremony begins.

Laura is a first grade teacher. And all of her students lined the aisle as she and her father entered the church. It really was a special scene.

The wedding was full of humor, which really made things memorable.

I love this look during the ring exchange.

Married at last!

It was great to catch up with Jon and Karin and their new little bundle of joy. Actually, Jon and Karin were the third wedding that we ever photographed! Amazing how time flies!

Thanks Laura and Max for allowing us to be a part of your special day. May God richly bless you as you begin your new life together.
